I would like to ask fellow Edgecam users what their opinion is of Turning using solids.

I manufacture complex parts and I am personally finding it difficult to see the benefits of using solids over wireframe.

I can understand if you are manufacturing simple parts and you can feature find easily and then apply the tools to the job, but if you are manufacturing anything with any complex shapes then you have to manually take geometry from the solid and you lose the associativity with the model anyway.

The biggest put off for me though is the visual aspect. I find it difficult to see what is going on when applying toolpaths. When machining in the bore I use the clipping command to create a section of the comonent to allow me to see the machining more easily. Even with this the section created is hollow and it makes viewing unclear.

I am hoping that people out there can tell me that there is a better way to turn using solids or at least a better way to visually see the component when cutting.

Maybe this is just a transitional thing from wireframe to solids.
