Need help importing SW 2003 into BCC v.24

I am very green and would appreciate some direction. Thank You. I have solidworks 2003 and bobcad cam v. 24. I will draw a solid model in sw, and then attempt to open it in bcc v. 24. I get the solid model but I am unable to begin assigning tool paths and selecting geometry. When I select mill toolpath and then a profile, the profile edges are broken and I am unable to get the geometry assigned, or recognized. What am I doing wrong? Thank you for your help.

What kind of tool paths are you trying to create?

If you are doing 2Axis mill programs then you need regular line geometry, so you can do line-joins and pick the ends of the solid segments, and then add any arcs or fillets you want. Then when you do 2axis pocketing or profiling you select the lines/arcs as your geometry.

If you are doing 3axis then you can select your solid model directly as your geometry.

I have solidworks 2011 and BobCad V24, opening a .sldprt file in bobcad works fine for me.

Try one of these two things:

Open the SW file in BC then do a Save As. With out doing this and operations you do in BC will be erased becasue it is not a BC file yet

Save the SW file as a .STEP then open it in BC. With comlex geometry I find this works better than a native SW file. After opening it, do a save as like above
