Angry Bridgeport VMC 760-20 Hiedenhain 2500B

I am having a lot of trouble getting the tools properly registered in the control. I cannot get the tools from the spindle to the tool carusel. The machine was purchased used and it was just powered up. The machine is in great shape, but nobody knows anything about it here. Please help, the control offers 2 ways to load tool offsets, one through a central tool file which is program 0 and the second is individually, not sure which way works best but I am stuck...

With the changer you really need to use the tool table

using conversational, write a program that has lines such as:

    TOOL CALL 1 S100 Z

    IZ.001 F2000 M06

run the program and see if the machine goes and gets the correct tool

change the tool number and repeat.

if it acts correctly, you need to load the tools one by one and then define them in the tool table, you should be ok

    Gus,

Thanks, that worked. How does the machine know where tool 0 is? does it automatically reference from the spindle z ? As I understand it, since that is z 0 then all my tools will have a + on the z length? It is a bit confusing.

your tools will be whatever you say they are

Zero one tool on the part

All others will have an offset

Or all can have an offset

it is up to how you want to do it.

From what I can tell tool #0 is imaginary. Luckily my machines previous owner had etched the tool number onto each fork on the carousel so I know which one is which. It starts with #1 then goes up to 20 going clockwise (for me on my Interact 720).
There are perameter settings to either use a central tool program (program 0) or specify tools within each program. I have mine set up to use the central tool program, I just can't figure out how to get program 0 into inch mode so I have to convert my tool diameters and lengths to mm.

Question Bridgeport VMC 760-20 Heidenhain 2500B

My machine is wired for a 4th axis, would anybody know what model number to buy that would work with this machine?

You need to get in the MOD setting and change it that way.
