if youre bored hit youtube and look for twin blower. you will find several cars that have been outfitted with 2 superchargers. as if one wasnt enough.

    That was interesting.
I always really liked Pro Stock haven't been to the drag strip in decades, they have some real BA cars now.

Did you happen to have time to post any machining pics of the blower pulleys on PhotoBucket?

No I didnt take any pics while I was machining the pulleys. its pretty simple stuff. I started with pulley stock and just whacked them off and did the bores and holes etc.

Agreed, it is pretty straight forward with numerous way to accomplish it, still, always interesting to see how someone does theirs.

I made a set of bored jaws on the lathe then cut the blanks off a little long. then drilled thru it and faced one end. flipped the part then did both bores from one end and faced them to length. then I put them in a 3 jaw chuck on the mill, dialed it in and did the bolt patterns.

Are you saying you can buy bar stock with the pulley grooves already cut in them? Where?

No problem Tom. anything to help further the cause. I suppose if you REALLY wanted to someone could make the timing stock for the pulleys. but for the time you would have in it. its far easier and faster to just buy the pulley stock. unless you have gear hobbing equipment in your shop then it might be a different story. I do not though.

That surprised me some, $20 difference between the two pulley stock, with SPI being the higher

Misumi USA having for even less.

the blower drives are now complete. still need to make the fan and its adapter. now I can figure out the belt length and get them on order.

That is looking great! Have not started my build yet, but I'm seriously considering scaling up like you have.

Looks like you have incorporated a starter. What are you using?

Its a RS550 rc car motor. in theory it should turn it over. I have a 9:1 ratio over the motor. I only bought one of them in case is doesnt work and I need to use something else. I will post when I get to the point of trying it as to whether or not it does turn it over.

550 motor sits in well there.....scale look as well....I think your ratio should be well within the ballpark.
If you can spin engine at 1000 rpm should be more than enough. One advantage of building larger scale engines is when you get to the electric starter as far as scale appearance is concerned. I have thought about using the brushless motors for smaller scale engines to try to keep the scale appearance. They require much greater reduction ratio though. Nice work ..........

If it works, I've kicked the idea around of making a shell to go over it that looks like a chevy starter.

started working on the blower scoop. had to change it to a 2 piece design because it was so deep inside. machining it was going to be a nightmare so I opted to make the 2 piece version instead.
