    Small NEMA 17 22oz

Because they were so cheap on eBay a couple of years ago, I got 3 17H130H NEMA17 stepper motors. Looks like they're 4V .95A 4.2Ohm 2.5mH 22Oz-in Motors. Is there much use in these for me as far as CNC purposes go? Maybe a small (1'x1') dremel machine?

    While holding torque isn't everything

You do need a certain amount of it. I don't think those would work for a machine that had any significant amount of resistance, but they might be able to power a pen plotter or laser cutter, if it had ballscrews. But small stepper motors are cheap enough that you don't have to design your machine around these particular ones - I'd say start with what you'd really like to do to what materials, how big, and work backwards from there. Get the motors to fit the machine, not the other way around.

Well, I bought these on a whim. I think I paid about $15 for the motors and shipping. Maybe less. No big loss, Right?

i have NEMA 23 3Amp 125oz-in 6 wire unipolar motors, i paid $45 each from local electronics store. I have a machine with 6" x 6" table movement, i use simple hardware store 1/4-20 threaded rod. I haven't used it yet since i still need to set up the driver board.

My spindle is a Dremel 4000 rotary tool.
