    Turning Biodur (chrome cobalt)

    Hi all you experts,

What inserts do have success with w/r/t turning biodur (aka chromium cobalt). We're using Kennametal grade 1105 trigon right now, but tool life isn't much. Any recommendations for other grades? Cermets? Whisker-reinforced?

    Thanks

Tool life wont be great no matter what insert you use. Usually, the larger the RAD on the insert, the longer the tool life is. Try to keep your DoC to around 1mm.
