    Step file 3D Milling

    Hello.
I got a step file, and would like to mill the S part you can see in the picture. My problem is that every time I calculate the tool-path I get the tool-path that is not smooth and has some bigger mistakes (in the picture in red circles).

I tried to do the job with a 2.5mm tool with 1.25mm corner radius using Z level rough, 0.1 depth of cut, 1mm step-over.

Here you can download the bobcad file I made with tool-paths:
    http://www.4shared.com/file/g5xXmNpO/Bcadfile.html

And here is the original step file:

    Hope the links work?
(Updated the links, do they work now?)

Is there an error in step file geometry, problem on bobcad side, or on my side (choosing the correct parameters?).
    Any help will be appreciated.

The links here seem to be broken , If you re-post the file I will take a look at it.

Found two things that may be the issue..

    1. The machining tolerance.
0.0127 Try increasing the resolution of the tolerance.
Right click Milling tools choose current settings then choose Machine Parameters.
Set the tolerance to .001 see if the result is better.

    2. Try using the advanced rough instead , If the issue is The tool path / Bobcad the advanced roughing will do the same type of cut but uses a different algorithm.

    Thank you for your answer.
Setting tolerance to .001 helped. The path is now much better!

There are still 3 dots in the tool path. I will try to increase the resolution of the tolerance even more. What would be appropriate resolution to get really smooth tool paths?

Are there any other tolerances important for machining, that I should be aware of?

No , Just there. The tolerance may need changed on a part by part basis , according to size of part I would suggest .0001 no smaller unless your making very small parts.
