    Need advice about slaving axis

    Hello

Manytimes I read a question about connect 2 steppers in a same AXIS for slave them, The answer always is negative for many reasons…

If I have a 3 axis cnc controller, and I want to drive some computer controlled machine that don’t need Z axis, then the third axis of controller is free, and I will try to use Z AXIS to slave and X1 axis.

My question is if I can join X and Z pin wires from PP before they come inside controller, and in this way X and Z axis will receive the same signal, slaving Z movement to X.

Attach a diagram for better understanding. I need to know if this could work in some way.

Sorry my bad English, hope you understand.

    Thanks in advance

Most software can slave an axis, so you probably don't need to modify the 3-axis wiring (but I think your drawing should work anyway, just be sure not to mix the dir pins with the step pins; I haven't tried it, though).

    What software are you using?

Iam using an embroidery software, and is not possibility of slave axis, is a NON CONFIG SYSTEM, I only know that precision must be 1 pulse= 0.1 mm. Also I can config spindle speed and steppers speed, finish config. Software drive only two axis and one DC motor.

I should build machine using this parameters.

    Thanks for your help

To do this correctly you need 4 axis contoller with each motor using it's own drive. X Y Z A then you can slave X or Y to A.

It could be done using 1 drive running 2 motors but not recommended.!
