How long does it take to route out an image thats 8x10?
What is the resolution? Or does that depend on the size/diameter of the bit?
Eric
Depends a lot on the speed of your machine. If you look through the site I posted, they talk of an 8x10 image cut with a 1/32 tool, using the tool size as the resolution, so 256X320, or ~82,000 lines of gcode.Originally Posted by widgitmaster
With other software, using V bits, I've heard of stepovers as small as .005, and 4x6 pictures taking a few hours to cut.
A lot of variables to consider, but it's always going to take a long time.

I just looked at that imagetogcode site. The software looks pretty impressive. The price seems to be cheaper than some of the others ive seen also.
I forgot to mention that I've seen some pretty nice things done with Image Carve. Here is a link to Aksess's Gallery http://www.cnczone.com/gallery/showg...00&ppuser=4456 I beleive he used Image Carve for all the carvings in his gallery. The web adress for Image Carve is www.imagecarve.com.
Yes thank you CNCRob. I do use imagecarve. I tryed several others and found it one to be the easiest so far. I just uploaded a few more pictures tonight

Has anyone had ANY success in downloading and testing this software? I have tried downloading every version and have not been able to get it to install on my computer.Originally Posted by ger21

I had no trouble downloading it. The first time I used it I had problems
but it was some motor setting giving me trouble. Now it works pretty
good and I may purchase it. The pics do take a long time to do as
mentioned especially with a v tool and high resolution.
What operating system are you using? Win95, Win98, Win200, WinXP. DOS?Originally Posted by metalhacker
I cannot get it to install on XP Professional. Gives me an error message that the files are not acceptable to DOS or Windows.
