    5 degree solution

    Hello everyone,

    Noob here, Chris.

    Haas VM3 (2.5 axis).

I have a cast block (500 lbs) sitting on a table and I'm stuck at cutting a 5 degree surface.

My question is, since I'm a complete noob, is there an inexpensive device that will help me make a 5 degree surface parallel with my CNC table? In addition to finishing this surface I also have a number of holes to drill into this surface. Therefore it is rather imperative that I compensate for this 5 degree slope somehow.

    Any ideas are truly appreciated.

    Cheers!

    Chris.

A sine bar or sine plate.

Considering the size of your work, you might have to make your own. Largest sine plate I have seen is 10" X 10" I think.

You can use jacks, clamps, and stop blocks to tilt it and just use a sine bar to set and check angle.

    Thanks!

    Roger that.

Going to research the sine plate then.

    Cheers!

In the future you might get more responses if you post a question like this in the general metal working forum instead of in this sub group which is for log of machine builds.
