    All thread ball screw

    Hi guys
Anyone see any problems using threaded rode and a nylon nut as a simple and light ball screw? I want to build another small router / engraver and was thinking about using threaded rod as the ball screws.

    Should work ok, right??

    Cheers Dave

    Hi Dave...

Yes, for a light weight machine threaded rod from a hardware store and a nylon nut is fine. My current small machine used 6mm threaded rod and nylon cutting board nuts for about 3 years before I 'upgraded' to dumpstercnc.com M6 leadnuts as the cutting board slabs gave out.

Also, fyi: Ball screws are a particular type of lead screw, but what you're looking for asking for is lead screw.

Ball screws = expensive, accurate and efficient. Lead screws = Anything that does the job.

    Cheers, Chris H.
