    10 wired stepper

    Hi I need some help
I'm not an expert in steppers or drives: But I have some steppers fitted on my Emco F1 CNC Machine. They are working but I want to use a new controller. And I wonder how do I get a controller that will fitt my steppers.
The stepper has 10 wires. You can see the number of the steppers on the picture. Is there any driver cards that suports 10 wired steppers?

Maybe a picture showing the wires is informative, 10 wire steppers are unknown to me, but if I think in a combination of wires that result in 10, I can think in:

6 wire for stepper and 4 for encoder
8 for stepper and 2 for brake
4 for stepper, 4 for encoder and 2 for brake

Berger Lahr makes some 10wire stepper motors that are 5 phase. You need a special driver for them, check ebay. Vexta also makes some 5phase drivers and motors.

Here's color code for a couple of 5 phase that I have.

    Function Berger-Lahr Motor (10-lead) Vexta Motor (10-lead)
    Winding 1 yellow------------------------blue
    Winding 2 brown------------------------orange
    Winding 3 orange-----------------------brown
    Winding 4 blue-------------------------yellow
    Winding 5 grey-------------------------black
    Return 1 white------------------------red
    Return 2 violet------------------------green
    Return 3 green------------------------violet
    Return 4 red--------------------------white
    Return 5 black------------------------gray

If this motor has built in encoder, it's probably 6wires for motor and 4 for encoder.

Here is the picture of the conection. But unfortunally I don't think there is any information. all wires are black and 2x5 screw connectors. I Have the original drivers for the motor(EMCO)drives. Maybe I can manage to use these drivers. But then I have to construct my own conection between My computer and these drives.

Hi folks I started this so I maybe should end this.
The motors are variable-reluctance types, Lee, (i.e. not permanent
magnet motors) and will not work properly with a stepper card intended
for permanent magnet types. So then you know. There is no encoders inside. It's just not the regular permanent magnet motor.
