Latest version EMC2 running well on 8.04 ?

Because my pc has latency issues with 10.04, I'm running ubuntu 8.04(32 bit) on my workshop machine, with EMC2 version 2.3.5.
Looking at the documentation wiki, I see that I need to do a manual upgrade to 2.4.x, but what it doesn't say anywhere that I can find is if there are any problems running it on 8.04.

This came to light when I discovered that there are various G-codes that are now implemented that I'd not heard of !

If anyone has comments, I'd be grateful to hear them.

I have not heard of any issues with the latest on 8.04. 8.04lts and 10.04 are still supported os's. They are still building packages for both.

Hi samco, and thanks for the info.
I've just been reading the documentation on the various versions, and as there is no mention of incompatibility I'm hoping for the best.
    Regards
