    machining 80mm deep

    hi does anyone have tactics for machining aluminium 6082, profile 80mm deep?
    having trouble with the finish

    Thoughts:

    80 mm is way more than you can do in one pass but you already knew that.

    If you're having surface finish issues, how rigid is your setup?

    Are you using carbide or hss? Carbide is stiffer but it does require
    the setup on the machine to be more rigid. Larger diameter cutters
    are more rigid than small ones.

    Are you using reasonable speeds and feed for the cutters in use?
    A 1/4 inch carbide cutter needs higher speed for optimum cutting than a Bridgeport style machine can provide.
