    Need help with chinese laser

    Hi

I am new to this forum as well as laser cutters.

I just received my JC6040 80W laser from China but cant get it to work.

If I try to cut something I can hear a noise at the tube but it does not cut.

My waterpump is working fine so it is not a water problem.

Is there a way to test if the power supply and tube is OK.

    Regards
    Freddie

Is there a laser came out from the focus lens?

Once you turn on the laser and press "test", did you find a pink line inside the tube?

    Hi,
When I bought my laser I was going to get one from china but found a company near by that sold them. I spoke to them and they said they repair a lot of lasers from china. They are called HPC laser, have a look at their site they might be able to help.

You need to have the power set to no less then 15%, I'd try 20%.

What is the power set to at the key pad?
Under laser set what is the milliseconds set to?

You should see a purple/pink laser at the center of the tube when it is fired.

    Hi Freddie,

Have you succesfully set up the laser? You need to check that. Sometimes customers didn't equipped the laser tube correctly, so the laser tube didn't work. If you did as the right way, maybe there were some quality problems with the laser tubes.

I have uploaded a video of how to set up the laser and i have sent the link to this forum before. You can click below to watch

Is your 80W laser tube of Reci Brand? If so, the laser tube can have the warrenty time for 10 months. You can contact your seller to change a new laser tube for you if there is quality problems.

    Hope you good luck!

A high pitched whine will indicate the tube is getting power to fire. Like others have stated, there should be a pinkish/purple glow along the tube. This is the plasma created by the high voltage in the tube.

Place a piece of paper over the "business end" of the laser and hit the test button. If it burns a neat little hole in the paper, tube's firing.

Next move to the first mirror with the paper and repeat. Is the laser hitting the first mirror? Try the second mirror (the one mounted on the gantry). Then try the one at the laser head. I'm thinking your adjustment is hosed and the laser is flying off somewhere outside of the normal beam path. If it's misaligned, it won't make it to the head. Work through that and see how things go.

    Hi

Thank you for all you advice. I tried everything but all I hear is a crackling noise at the tube but no pink light.
I have tried also with a paper at the tube but nothing is happening.

I will I know if the power supply is giving enough power?

    Thanks
    Freddie

Sorry to say this Freddie but the crackling sound at the tube usually indicates that the tube is dead. You should, I think, plan on getting a replacement tube.
