I'm actually trying to come to the decision of either stepper or servos, but I as look into servo motors, I'm having problems finding many places that sell them. Are there are good reliable sources that sell servo motors?
I realize I could buy a DC motor and a encoder from usdigital, but i'd rather buy a predone one.
I plan on using the Gecko G320 driver, plus linux emc...
Currently I use stepper motors and would really like to increase speed, I still need precision though, which I know has a lot to do with the lead screw and such, but really I don't know how closely servo motors hold their position. If I have a 1024CPR, under pretty light loads, does it easily hold close do 4-5 "steps" away from the position? I hate to invest a lot of money into this if it's not going to continue to give me the same accuracy as my stepper motors.
Sorry if I rambled really i'm just looking for good servo motor sources, any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Ross
