    Vertical Gantry Router

Has anyone seen or thought about a vertically-oriented gantry router, where the spindle is horizontal? Seems like it might use space more efficiently...

I've seen a couple of those...they looked something like those panel cutters found at lumber supplys.
The ones I saw were mounted to the wall using cable for movement.

    Sorry,.
..don't have any links and don't know where I saw these....

kinda like this? http://www.dynacnc.com/spacesaver60120.jpg I have thought about a design like this too as a 4x8 router in a 2 car garage takes up atleast half.

It's interesting, going through a standard door was the genesis of my vertical orientation thoughts...
