I've been lurking on here for the past couple years, but finally found an opportunity to buy an FL200 style cnc router locally off Craigslist. As it was already assembled, bolting additions on required buying either 8020 unique parts or coming up with something different.

To that end, this is what you can do with $0.18 carraige bolts from Lowes:

Chop off two side wings, grind off two corners of the square bolt end, insert into 8020 slot and turn to the right. It may not have the full strength of the original, but it's plenty for the small additions I'm working on. (Bit storage, etc)

Hopefully this is my beginning to giving back.

It is always nice to have alternatives to add-ons once the machine is assembled. Certainly is less expensive than the 80/20 hardware that does the same thing.

Another option is to drill a hole in the 8020 tracking in an unused area of the material that is large enough to pass the head. This way the head can't slip out if turned.

I agree. I made a hole drilling jig with extra stuff I had laying around. It works really good too A 3/4 hole saw, scrap piece of plywood, 2 slip nuts and bolts.

That jig is definitely going on my list of projects. This was just for quick, temporary attachments.
