A technician repaired our machine a while ago - one of the drivers was shorting and he apperantly used the 4th axis card to make the machine work as xyz only. That technician dissapered and cannot be contacted.
A while ago another driver had been shot . i had both drivers repaired and also the motor ( the resolver had been damaged) and all are working now. But the JOG screen only shows x, y and z position - there is no A axis at all even when I insert the axis card ( the one with the 3 coax connectors on it ) whice I found was pulled out and laid on the botom of the control box.How do I put A axis on the screen again?

Also - when doing CS as requested by the control all the axes jerk with a loud thump but stay on - is this normal?

The CS normally moves with a quick start. If the thump is loud and bangy then you likely have ballscrew or thrust bearing problems.

You need to go into the parameter screen and turn on 4 axis machining to use your A

at command prompt, type "setp" then enter.
use enter key to move asterisk to "axis configuration"
select "xyza" (which is option 4)
press enter, then manual.
power down machine, then power up, A axis will now be displayed.
