    Dovetail machining

I want to machine two mating parts in 6061, one with a female dovetail and one with a male. I plan to use the common 60 degree HSS dovetail cutter. It seems to me that I can't mill both sides of the dovetail with this cutter because the angles won't match up... if you look at the cross section when they mate one angle will appear to be at 60 degrees and one will be at 30 degrees...correct? If I used a 45 degree cutter the angle would be the same from no matter what the orientation, but how is it done for a 60 degree? What am I missing? Am I just imagining a problem here?

    Thanks

    Aaron

    Yep.

You use the same cutter for both parts.
