Is it a normal practice to put the cord for the plasma in the drag chain with the other wires (for the steppers)? I was woried about possible interferance from the high voltage of the plasma cable....

Many commercial machines follow this practice, including the PC based controllers.
But it is normal for the machine torch to have a heavy copper braid shield that also carries the high frequency pilot arc conductor, if used.

My plasma torch lead is in the same cable chain as all the rest of my wires, no problem. I have a Hypertherm Powermax 45, which is a non-high-frequency cutter...that probably makes a big difference.

X2!
I'm running the same as I Lean and have never had any trouble with it.
Powermax 45 as well.
Cool beans guys, what size drag chain did you use on gantry, and what size did you use on the table (I keep getting which is called X and which is called Y mixed up)? Once you let me know ill order mine.
I used Igus 20.2.055, it's about 1" tall by 1 1/2" wide inside dimension. Everything fits fine, but there's not a lot of extra room. (don't get anything smaller, is what I'm saying)
Carl
You used the 1 1/2 for both the X and Y?

Yes, same size chain everywhere.
