At work they were tossing out a bunch of old electronic equipment. I scored quite a few steppers, including a few which are 1A 3.2 volt, and the online spec says they are 1.30 lbs/in torque! (wow) and 1.8 deg per step..these things should have some nuts. Now I probably could build that cloth cutter or a very large plotter...

If that's the stall torque, then the motor is surprisingly weak for something that draws 1 amp.

1.3lbs-in = 0,15Nm !!
If there are any nuts involved, they must be wedged inside!
My guess is they are 1,3Nm. That seems about right for 1A 3,2V if it's a fairly modern design. (1,3Nm = 184 ozf-in).

Aw crap you guys are right - I looked at the datasheet and it is only .7125N-m so yes 1.3lb/in is correct. Guess it's not so hot then. Should still be plenty powerful enough for a large belt driven plotter though.
I couldn't find any printer steppers around here lately.
