Bridgeport ,round ram restoration to cnc

Heres the mill i been restoreing the last year , i didnt know much about mills when i bought this one , so i ended up with a round ram . Seems to mill just as well as the dove tail version , i use 1 1/4" roughers alot and shread alot of aluminum with it . Once this machine is done , i wanna buy a very large cnc or vmc.

Just got done with a full bijur oiling system . ( its not in these pics , i need to take newer updated pics)

built the micro dropper from scratch as well as the power draw bar .

Next step i'am going to cnc it . just for the learning experience and because i luv fabrication and electronics .

Not exactly a great mill to cnc , but should be fun anyway .

    Hello,

Check this for the date of your machine. the serial number is in front of the saddle above the y-axis wheel.
    http://bluechipmachineshop.com/bc_blog/?p=616\

Your machine has a J head, its a much later head, much better in many respects, more tooling options with the R8 taper.

It also has a riser block, which is sensible considering the size of the head compared to the rest of the mill.

The machine on the previous link isn't mine, its the only conversion of an M-head/Round Ram i've seen.

I've attached a picture of mine as I saw it where I bought it (Haas in irvine of all places) It was converted with ball screws and then everything in the conversion was removed. Given the condition of the ball screws (very worn) I figure they just stripped it and passed it along.
I Have been collecting parts to get it back to its CNC state, and am almost ready to start the conversion.

    regards
