BB does not read +5 from proximity sensor

    Hi everyone,

I have just wired up my chinese proximity sensors to my breakout board per the directions, but it does not seem to trip it. My power supply has 3 outputs, 50V for my drivers, 12V (NPN sensor takes 6-36V), and a 5V which feeds my breakout board.

The inputs will trip and show from the +5V from the power supply (the same +5 that feeds the BB) but will NOT register the +5V from the out on the proximity sensor.

Both -'s are common to ground, and I appear to be hooked up exactly as my diagram shows. Like I said, the 5V from the BB and the 5V leg of the power supply will "trip" it just fine.

    Thanks folks!

test positive from power supply 12v to negative on breakout board. If you don't read 12 there is your problem nothing to complete the circuit.

Thats the thing- I do read 12V. I didn't until I connected the (-) leads from the 12V to the 5V.

You probably don't have enough amperage from the switches 5v for it to register. In this thread using hall effect a pull up or pull down resistor was needed. http://www.cnczone.com/forums/open_s...made_easy.html be prepared for a lot of reading.
