    Bridgeport series 1 or 2 ??

Looking for some insight on what series to convert to cnc, which one is
better series 1 or 2. I intend to use Ajax retro but not sure what series is the best for the retro. any help would be great.

Series II is definately your best choice

I have both types, a series II has box way construction on the "Y" axis which is ideal for a CNC. So this would be your  best choice for your retrofit.

Series II all the way. It's twice as heavy, more rigid, has ballscrews on the NC version, and has a 4hp head.

I don't have a Series II, but that's the way I would go knowing what I know now.
