Catch22 had the idea a USB data key would be good for transfaring .tap files from the computer you design and make the .tap to the machine shop for the computer running Mach3
I just tried it; works great; a 256mg key would most likely be all you'd ever need

yup, that what i have been using too. I use a 128meg version tho. The one i have can be found at walmart for under $20. Sure beats using floppys!

Yeah they are great, If you ever tried a transfer of a graphic to Gcode file you will apperciate the size over a floppy

I have been using mine ever since I upgraded to mach, I have only had a floppy and cdrom hooked up for the install. I have a usb hub on the outside of my cases for hooking up keyboards, mice, and usb flash drives.

Wayne Hill, they go for cheaper than that, and for G-code, you dont need 1gb. I use a 256 stick for mine and has been doing great, the other day a buddy of mine picked up a 1gb stick for $39 at officemax. If you really want a deal, just check the ads. Newegg.com is another good one to watch.

Yes, 256Mg is plenty big for CNC files.
Been reading up on how to access the USB memory drive with DOS.
