    Setup Problem???

    Hi All,
I'm a noob to the art of CNC machining and I just recently acquired a Fireball V90. After I got everything setup, I did a test run of the default program in EMC2 "EMC2/AXIS" with a pen attached to the spindle mount and I got this

Any ideas what's wrong? I noticed my Z-axis was inverted (moving opposite of what it should be). Could my x and y axis be inverted too???

I would bet you are missing steps.
Meaning your acceleration may be too high or max velocity is too high or interference on the wires that go to the step drive etc.

It seems the letters are in the right direction so the x and y directions are probably right but that is easy to check by looking at the display - but remember the display represents TOOL movement not necessarily machine movement.

I also noticed it only seems to get "lost" when the tool picks up to move to a new cut path. It seems to be fine if it stays on the same constant cut path.

To me, this would possibly indicate 'cross talk' of the step pulses from one drive to the other. Are the wires shielded from each other?

I lowered the max velocity and acceleration by more than half and it seemed to fix the problem. It still seems to hiccup once and while. Maybe I'll lower the values some more. Also, the cables don't seem to be shield and they are all bundled together. I might try to separate them some.

    Having problems with post processor

I am using SheetCam and EMC2 and have not been able to get any job to work.
I have tried several jobs and some will say line 2 is missing a word or maybe line 9 has a improper item.
I am using the EMC Post processor in sheetcam.
I am new to this so if any one can help I would welcome it.
If need be I will e-mail one of the G-Code where you could look at it
or even call to talk to any one that could help.

Why not post the code in a fresh post? You'll get more response that way.

It may also be a good idea to have a look at some of the examples supplied with emc. If the error is in line 2 it could be that comments are in the wrong format.

But please open a new post, not using this one.
