    Torus Pro Servo Kit

    Dear CNCzone members,

Novakon has been diligently working on improving the performance and reliability of our Professional Series Mill. As a result we have found well suited technology that works efficiently within the power requirements of a single phase 220V-system having the performance of a commercial 3-phase industrial machine.

The key attributes of this system are as follows:

    • High output power (1KW) relative to motor size and weight
    • Encoder (2500PPR) that determines accuracy and resolution
    • High efficiency
    • High torque (1800 Oz*In) which will rapidly accelerate loads
    • Usable high speed torque through its 2500 RPM range
    • Cooler motor operation
    • Audibly quiet at high speeds
    • Resonance and vibration free operation
    • Higher rapid (500 IPM) travels

The new servo system is now available as a factory installed accessory which will provide enhanced capability for your machining needs. You will realize faster travel rates, more instantaneous power at all speeds, quiet operation and fault detection if not in step. All these capabilities are now available at an introductory price which you may review at Novakon.

Please contact us with any further questions at 905-258-0366 or [email protected].

    Regards,

    Novakon Team

    Torus PRO accuracy specs

    Dear Sirs,

I am in a process of choosing of a CNC mill, and Torus PRO looks really attractive (work cube, spindle RPM, etc.) However, I was not able to find any info regarding positioning accuracy. Could you kindly provide any data on this?

    Best,
    Andy

    Hello Andy,

The ball screws are a P4 grade precision ground screw. The backlash specs on the Torus PRO axes are .0012". Linear positioning accuracy is .001" (.002" on the Z-axis) or better. Repeatable position accuracy is .0005".

Thank you for your inquiry and we will integrate better performance data for the product page.

    Regards,

    Servo Upgrade to NM-200 Series

    Hello Ray,

With the release of the axes servo option on the new Torus PRO, we have investigated the integration of the same servo driver/motor set into the older models.

In the series 1 NM-200, there is no way to mount the drivers in the remote controller unit.

However, in the series 2 NM-200, the motors can be fit onto the axis motor mounts with an adaptor plates now available. The servo drivers should be a form fit onto a new chassis plate which is the same as the Torus PRO chassis board. The only consideration left to deal with is the depth of the electrical panel on the back of the machine. The servo drivers are much larger than the stepper drivers so they extend beyond the door preventing it from closing. This is being addressed now by providing a pocketed door as part of the KIT.

So the answer to the question is YES for the series 2 NM-200. Details and pricing are being considered for a more formal release. Interested customers in this pending servo KIT may address directly to [email protected] and we will converse with the NM-200 Series 2 owners individually on a more direct channel.

Thank you for your inquiry about our products and assisting us in defining ways to improve our machines.

    Regards,

    Novakon Team
