    Best Vertical Bandsaw Under $1000!!

Hey everyone, I am looking for some help. I am looking to pickup a 14" or larger vertical bandsaw for less than $1500.00 (would prefer to keep it around $1000). It will be a light duty use machine in an auto fabrication shop for cutting aluminum pipe, steel tubing, etc. We do not need anything crazy right now.

You can see my second post for the machines I am looking at. One of which is under $1000 and the price is right

I was originally looking at this DELTA, but it is no longer available and they have no clue when a replacement is coming. THey dont answer calls or emails so I started looking at others. I knew this machine was quality and the specs would do the job for what we needed:

Here are the machines I am looking at:

    JET 708116K JWBS-14MW

    Grizzly G0621X Vertical Wood/Metal Bandsaw:

Rikon 10-325 (they did not really advise this for cutting metal unless going VERY SLOW)

Will not be dealing with much over 3/16 steel or aluminum or Chromoly

Possibly because your post is worded like you are gonna tell us the best one, not that you are asking for one. ALso because there are thousands of people who view these forums daily and lots of them do not have a band saw in the $1000 rangs so have no experience to recommend one. Do you want 41 responses saying I dunno which one but good luck anyway?

If it were me, I would buy a quality doall or similar from craigslist, ebay or the like. A lot of them are way to high for what they are but you can find some decent deals from time to time and you know they are solid machines. I don't own one so I can't comment on the ones you have picked. Just make sure they have the surface speed range you need for cutting steel.

Of the three you listed, only the Grizzly has speeds low enough to cut steel, barely. Closer to 100 fps would be better. The other two are wood band saws.

Yea and that Grizzly saw only weights in at 264lbs. I would step up to the 17" saw if I was going to buy from them. As far as buying import machines Grizzly's stuff is pretty good.

IDK where yo are located but this guy has quite a few old iron saws that would fit your needs. He is also good with pricing and being honest about what he is offering. Give him a call if the shipping want killl you to your location.

Have you thought about using a carbide tipped cold saw? I bought this one and am VERY happy with it. WAY capable of cutting whatever aluminum you want. Steel is tougher, but if you keep it to pipe or angle it will work fine.

I just don't believe you will get a good vertical band saw suitable for your needs for $1000 new. Also consider that 14" isn't very big.

The problem is this, you mentioned cutting steel! That requires a low band speed and a lubrication system.
