I have an old Thermwood 45. All the curves are thousands of straight lines. But whats the most modern curve interpolater out there? I need to know if modern machines and CAD/CAM can cut curves as fast as straight lines.
thanks
Zach

The answer really depends on the machine and the control. Some machines have advanced so that axis moves are synchronized to achieve near perfect feeds on moves not parallel to an axis. Others just achieve an approximation of the programmed feed rate. And some machines can be switched between the two conditions at will.
