    NM-145 Spindle Upgrade Kit

Novakon is excited to offer the spindle motor replacement kit for the NM-145.

This kit is designed for our customers who wish to take advantage of the latest technology and to replace their BLDC motor/VFD set to the full capability of our new Torus CNC machine.

It is our intention to provide a onetime bulk order to pass on volume savings to our customers wanting this upgrade.

The kit is offered in two component packages. Depending when the original NM-145 machine was purchased, the kit will contain the upgrade parts needed in order to bring the machine to the status of the Torus model.

The added value of the upgrade replacement kit includes:

    • Rigid tapping capability
    • Precise spindle speed control
    • High torque at all RPMs
    • Value added 1 year limited warranty (at no added cost)
The focus on the upgrade is to replace the BLDC motor/VFD set to a heavy duty industrial servo motor and to upgrade the electrical cabinet with the latest production parts and wiring configuration. The spindle motor upgrade contains the following parts:
    • 1200W AC Servo Motor
    • Motor mount casting assembly
    • Pulley
    • Drive belt
    • Cables
    • E-stop switch

The electrical cabinet will be upgraded to facilitate the new modular components on the high performance polyurethane chassis plates. The kit parts are as follows:

    • Driver polyurethane chassis plate
    • Servo driver
    • Break out board (BOB)
    • Sinusoidal Stepper drivers (3) * Note 1 & *Note 2
    • Power Supply polyurethane chassis plate *Note 1
    • Terminal strip with relay assembly * Note 1
    • 220 VAC cooling fans (2)
    • 220 VAC coolant pump
    • 220 VAC power entry side plate
    • Interconnection cables

The polyurethane driver chassis plate will contain the servo driver, BOB, and up to a maximum of four sinusoidal stepper drivers. The power supply assembly is an all AC power distribution center for the AC components. There are no longer any DC driver components in the controller. The new E-stop switch will now control the Mach3 reset input as well as disable the AC power to the drive circuits. This will provide an extra safety margin by disrupting the power in an emergency situation.

A pictorial instruction sheet will be provided with each order, assisting the purchaser with assembly guidance. A moderate knowledge and experience in drilling and tapping new mounting holes will be required.

List Price: $2,495 USD or $2,195 USD (*Note 1)
Special Price: $1,795 USD or $1,495 USD (*Note 1)

Conditions: This introductory offer is valid until May 25th, 2012. Orders will be specifically produced as per customer orders and will not be refundable due to the customized nature of the order. All orders will be accepted on a prepayment basis only. Kits will be shipped after July 25th, 2012. All shipping and handling costs will be the purchaser’s responsibility.

    Warranty:
    One year limited warranty.

This kit is not intended to affect the warranty of the original NM-145 purchase.

*Note 1: This represents the machines that currently have the Sinusoidal drivers and are not required to be supplied in the upgrade kit version. Savings of $300 USD is applied in this version.
*Note 2: This represents the option to implement an optional 4th axis at an introductory kit offer of $185 USD with a savings of over 25%.

We trust that this upgrade will enhance your machine and will provide future trouble free operation in order to facilitate future support issues. For more information please contact [email protected].

    Regards,

    Novakon Team

I would be all over this, but the cost is 1/3rd of a new mill. Thats a bit much, especially considering the issues that owners have had with their 145's. At that point I'd be more inclined to ditch my 145 and get something else.

I'm assuming the fact that nobody has responded to either the 145 or the 200 upgrade posts indicates that there is not a lot of interest at that price point. I would think that Novakon would be willing to take a loss on these in order to keep their customers happy and coming back for more, as opposed to switching to other vendors with a track record of excellent customer service.

    Just my 02 cents

Any nm145 users upgrading to this? Or is the cost and the pre-order scareing everyone away?
