    Home switchs on the Z

Hey guys, im in the process of adding a router to my CNC plasma table to allow me to cut plastics....

question, how do you guys do the home switchs on the Z? With the plasma the Z plate is movable by about 1/2 inch......it uses a touch-and-go setup, where the torch goes down till it touchs the material, which then the z plate moves that 1/2 inch, it trips a switch, then it comes up a pre-set amount to keep the torch at the proper height.

Of course with a router you wouldnt want the Z to be able to move, so how do you guys do the Z home switch since you deal with different material heights?

Z home switch is at the top of the Z travel.

We usually zero the Z axis to the top of material, either manually or with a touch plate.

Home is Z zero in machine coordinates, and the part Z zero is in work coordinates.
