    Opinion please?

Can anyone tell me why my machine travel in the x is all jagged? It is supposed to be a straight line! Please see attached pics and gcode. I start in Corel Draw, then to Cut 2D and then to Mach 3. Does anyone see anything in the gcode, or do you think it is a setting in Mach?

Thank you in advance for your time.

It looks like mechanical weakness in your machine, and lack of rigidity. What sort of machine is it? Did you build it yourself? What are you using for a spindle, what sort of tool is in it, and how deep are you trying to cut at a time?

I have just a small hobby machine, no I did not build it myself. There is no "slop" in it - everything is tight. Trying to cut .25" at a time. Actually my problem is in the y, not in the x as previously stated. As it is moving in the x, the y is varying when it is supposed to be remaining constant.

upon further inspection of my mach3 software, I discovered I had the backlash for the y set for .037. Could this have been the problem? I will find out tomorrow.

The g-code is definitely not a straight line, and it's possible that the backlash comp and maybe a lack of machine rigidity is making it worse.

The jagged lines are most likely due to your original drawing in Corel.
