Question Anilam 6000M Halted during G84

Running a Chevalier 14/18 with the Anilam 6000M. Ran about 400 cycles in the last few month. Now it stops when it goes to do the G84 Rigid tapping.
The display says HALTED. Also no error code. Machine is is stops with the spindle rotating at tapping speed but it will sit there all day with no error code. It will run about 2 hours in the morning then it stops.

Can it do a tool change after it stops in a G84? Or do an M19 spindle orient? I wonder if there is a problem with the reference mark on the spindle encoder getting through to the CNC chassis.

First you should try, to remove and reconnect the connectors of the motor and the control for this motor.
It should often happen, that the connectors have bad contact, through water or the shake from machining. If this doesn't work, you should use a oszilloskope to see, if all signals in the connector are ok.

    Anilam 6000M Halted during G84

This turned out to be the spindle encoder. Had to send spindle motor to manufacturer for repair. Encoder is integrated with motor somehow and Hieidenhein has a special ociliscope for setting it.
