HI guys, fairly new to Cambam and have a quick question.
in 2D pocketing if you choose a shape in a shape, then it islands the inner shape.
my question is,:
is there any way to do whis in 3d machining?
so you can visualise, if you imagine a ring with a 3d bottom.
ive roughed out the middle using a 10mm end mill (the 'island is effectively a through hole).
but to save time on the 3d machining (which im doing with a 3mm ball mill (roughing at 0.75 step over, then a final pass at 0.1) , im hoping to 3D machine around this void, as total time including the air cutting over the void is estimated at 16 hours.
if i can machine around the void im guessing it will be a few hours,
i have considered roughing the 'ring' with said 10mm to speed up , and then finishing off with 3mm ball end, but my aim is to set it going, and then leave it (ie no tool changes (which are manual) whilst im at work)
im running full licenced version incase that matters
hope this makes sense.
