    SuperPID Cutting Corian

SuperPID Cutting an enclosure for SuperPID out of Corian.

I was testing a couple bits on Corian when I came up with this. It’s a start for a series on feeds and speeds where I test various bits on different materials.

    Nice Project

    Hi Michael,

Thanks for sharing. Corian really cuts nice. I recently cut some award plaques for an R/C Helicotper Event for our club. Here is a sample.

What do you use to pain the letters? I would think acrylic paint?

    Paint

    Hi Michael,

Nothing special. Just some hardware store spray paint in a pressurized can.

We painted each color one at a time while masking the other letters that were not being painted. Once all the colors were painted we took a DA sander and sanded off all the excess paint on the surface leaving the routed areas with the appropriate color of paint for each letter. Then we sprayed a coat of clear on top of it to give it a nice gloss finish. They really turned out nice with the clear coat applied.

You could easily remove the top cover to your Super PID and add any graphics or lettering to suit your individual taste.

This looks interesting, I'll have to keep an eye on this thread.
