i have a mcv 4020 okuma milling center with an osp p200m control and i need to sequentially engrave serial numbers on some four hundred pcs. our machine supplier said it could be done with a macro program and want 1500 bucks for the program as well as a software update for the control to handle scaling of the number letter combo. does anyone have a good example for this control? i found some fanuc examples on cnc zone, can i alter the fanuc code for the osp???

If I remember correctly, there is at least one *.zip attachment on this forum with character macros. You can adjust Fanuc code for the OSP. What is your forecast - will You need character scaling?

I have the same same Okuma machine and control in my shop. I use the macro in the link. The added sequential serial number code has not been proven out. (I type in a lot number for each job - see instruction sheet)

P.S. Delete or rem out the "-----------------" in the macro.

i won't need character scaling, i figured i would just toolpath the numbers and write a macro for a six digit serial number. quick and dirty for this four hundred piece lot, would only need to s/n once a year.
