When I edit configuration.h files, notepad just fills the screen with the contents of the file which makes it very hard to find anything.
What would be the best software to use for editing these types of files that can format the file into a more readable format? I hope that I am making
sense.

I edit mine right in arduino 1.0 then update the firmware but you can open them with wordpad and not mess up the contents.
