I have obtained a very nice spindle from a komo VMC. It is a BT40 taper spindle. The draw bar is missing, so I will have to make one, and I would like to solicit some input here.

There are 3 questions on my mind:

1. About the pull stud gripper assembly: Are these standard or does every spindle have special size and shape of the gripper? If they are standard, does anyone here know of a place to get them?

2. The spindle manual talks about a force multiplying assembly on top of the spindle. I guess it is to reduce the amount of force necessary by the hydraulic/pneumatic piston to disengage the lock. Is this strictly necessary?

3. how tight is the fit between the belleville washers and the bar and spindle? I guess if it is not quite tight, there will be unacceptable wobble. If it is too tight there is no space for the washers to expand, it seems.

What else do I have to keep in mind?

Thanks for taking the time to read this.
