    Solid Model

    Folks, I am stumped, (its not hard for me!) I have a 3D solid model of a part in a .DWG format. How do I take that nice picture and turn it into a part? I'd like to generate a file so that I can run it on my mach3 mill.

    Please don't flame me, I am so green I would not burn anyway.

    You need a CAM program to create g-code from the part. Most inexpensive 3D CAM programs import .stl files. Export the .stl from AutoCAD, and use a CAM program like MeshCAM or Cut3D to create the g-code.

    As Gerry said, a CAM software would do the job for you. Most should post to Mach3 for you.

    More questions

    Thank you both for the reply. So once it is imported is this an automatic thing or do I need to go in and pick points etc?
