NEED Help Bridgeport Boss 5 Z Gear

I am in need of a Z axis gear for a Bridgeport Boss 5 Mill. I am going to be be doing a complete rebuild on this mill with G203v and am willing to document the whole process if anyone is interested. I will do a video of each step as I do it. If I cannot find a gear is there anyone who would be kind enough to send me the dimensions for the z axis gear? I am ready to get the machine up and running. Just cant beat this old metal. Number 828-527-8443 JIM

What gear are we talking about? One of the spindle drive gears? Do you mean you need a timing pulley?

The Boss 5 is 1:1 so if you look at the timing pully on the Zaxes Ballscrew, it will be the same size, same number of teeth, Made of aluminum with no side flanges, it has a .625 bore if you are using the same motors

Not all Boss 5's are 1:1.
My Boss 5 is 2:1. They changed it during the Boss 5 run.
IIRC, my motor pulley was 13 tooth and was wasted. I could not find one the same so I ordered a 14 tooth from McMaster and adjusted the motor mounting holes a bit so the belt tensioned properly.

Not correct, I have one of the last Boss 5 series made & it is 1:1

    All Boss 3's,4's,& 5s are 1:1 a Boss 6 was the first of 2:1

So yours is a Boss 6 if it has 2:1

Yes Mactec you are correct. My machine was BOSS 6. Thank God it has a real control on it now..

I have a 26 tooth original Z axis pulley that I will sell if the OP wants it. Just send me a message.

    I sent you a PM.

I have both a 26 tooth and a 13 tooth. The 13 tooth is not in great shape, but can be useable.

The 26 tooth is the correct timing pulley for the Z axes motor, for your machine

    Jim,

I mailed the pulley via priority mail on Saturday. You should see it early next week. Enjoy the machine.
