    mirror finish on steel

    need ideas for putting a mirror finish on high carbon steel and 316L stainless steel. currently hand sanding to 2000 grit then buff with chromium oxide. any quicker easier ways? typical item is 6" by 1".

    Electropolishing. Google it.

    I built a vibratory polisher for this.

    Does similar sized parts in 20 - 30 mins.

    I now realise that I do not have pictures or video of the end result.

    I now do get 316 stainless to a shine. ( and the machine is self contained now
