A1-6 to D1-6 Lathe Chuck Adapter

    Hey all,

I am getting a newer lathe at my company which has a D1-6 Camlock spindle nose. My old lathe has a A1-6 spindle nose. I want to still use my 4-jaw chuck and faceplate with the newer lathe. Has anyone seen a backplate chuck adapter that would do that? Or would I need to just make one? Anyone that's done it before, wanna share?

Yeah, I was there and was hopeful they had something, but I didn't see one. Last resort I could get one of them and modify it, but was hoping someone else had heard of this or done it before. I can't be the first to think of this

For the face plate it would likely be easier to just buy a new one.

For your chuck there are a couple of variables. The most obvious being does it already have a backplate, if so buy a blank backplate ready to machine and fit it to the chuck. Another possibility is that the chuck may bolt up to your new spindle without modification. In any event you have a number of options.
