    Machine rebuilt

Well it's pretty much done (again lol) I changed out the roller chain with CRP rack and pinion drives. I also change to THK SHS20 and 25mm rails and bearings. The. Machine runs very smooth. I'm getting right around 780 IPM with the 3:1 reduction, I'm running the machine with a G540. The only thing to do now is put the controller and PC in one box and mount to side of machine. What do you think.

Famous last words! The only thing left to do, is a fill-in-the-blank statement with home built machines. Looking good so far though! Is the speed you are getting recorded from just jogging the machine around, or have you had it actually doing some cutting through Oak, or other hard materials at that speed?

So the speed is just jogging the machine when setting it up. As for cutting speeds I will be do some testing very soon.

Well I made my first part with the rebuilt machine, I must say it came out awesome. The machine still needs some setting tweaked but other then that its great. There's two pictures, one of the part and one of what the machine looks like finished.

I don't really get any smell from the plastic, I think the trick is not to cut at high spindle speed with slow feed rate

I've been using my machine for a little while now and very please. Now it's time to true the thk rails I have on the machine. What I mean is to make sure they are parallel on the 8020 I'm using. I cut a small bracket to make sure they are, check it out. Click image for larger version.

    finished!

It won't be long and you'll want tool length sensing, dust shoe with extraction, 4th axis, vacuum hold down......

Looks great all the same, that part does look awsome

I've been busy lately. I had a little time in the shop today. I cut out a aluminum sprocket. It turned out awesome. What do you think.

Copy the address bar in Youtube and paste it in your message. The software takes care of the rest.
    Great looking machine and work.
    Keep it up.
