    Vectric entry level software

    Hello
I am new to the CNC world and like many, the budget is tight. I have researched the software packages as much as I possible could. At the moment after all the expenditures, I have to go with the entry level software packages until a bit of income is produced from the products.
I have attached a simple image in a word doc and would like to know if the entry level vectric package would handle this project.
I would like to make this model from wood than I will be casting in white metal at which time it would be engraved with text within the central recessed area.
Any thoughts on the matter would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Ken

    Hey Kensheets;
That would be a simple task for v-carve pro from Vectric. It's a very powerful program and can be coupled with cut 3d at a later date to do engravings with 3d images. Good luck. I've purchased most of the vectric packages starting with c3d VCP and finally bit the bullet and now use Aspire. It will take years to learn Aspire due to it's many capabilities.
    Hope this helps.

Oh yea, download a free trial software and give it a whirl before you buy!

    Thanks for the recomendation.
In a nut shell and as dummy as possible could you please tell me what the major difference is between the software you mentioned above versus Aspire. I have read the product comparison but the more I read the more I seem to be getting confused as I have more to learn.
In the product comparison it states that Aspire has 3D modeling and sculpting tools. I thought that was what I was able to do in V carve pro?

Cut 2D is the entry level product, and it can do your plaque, if you don't need the letters V-Carved, but just engraved.
Be aware that you may need to draw ity in another package, as Cut2D has limited drawing tools.

V-Carve Pro only has 2D drawing tools, and no modelling capabilities. It can do V-Carved Text, though.

Thanks for that it does clear up some of the confusion on my part. I think that the for the time being that V carve pro will accomodate my needs until i become more familiar with the product, and its appears that you get some credit when you upgrade to the aspire, if im reading there purchase policys correctly.
    Yes That is Romeo Mi.
    Thanks

I think rather than start with cut 2D (which is a great program), I would spend the extra bucks for VCP. You can later add Cut 3D and build an extremely powerful cad system with 3d images that you can cut. Again, I would recommend you download the sample programs and give it a whirl. It took about 2 years with those 2 packages before I upgraded to Aspire and I just wanted to try my hand at modeling. It's going to be awhile before I comfortable with all it can do. Vectric is great software and I am a fan. I'm not affiliated with Vectric in any way except as a satisfied customer. And I also used the upgrade option to save some $$$$$.
This was done with Cut 3D and VCP.

    That project looks great.
Thanks so much for sending me a pic of work created with VCP, it really helps give me a visual of the capacity of the software.
Gerry and Bill, Thanks for the info, you have cemented the idea of which package to go with.

Ken, if you're free Sunday afternoon, you can come by and I can show you the differences, and what you can do with them. I probably only live 20-30 minutes from you, off of 23 mile.
