    Ebay CNC Opinions please

Newb here. Looking for a turnkey cnc type machine to cut templates and patterns from thin (1/16" and less) aluminum and plastic. The description says it will but I'm not familiar enough with the hardware specs to tell if they're lying. Wondering if these are any good for the price. Works out to just under 2K including shipping. Thank-you

From the posted link by awerby it looks like the electronics are lousy. Don't really have the time to rebuild the controllers as suggested. Might have to look at the Taig mills. They're a little more expensive but might be worth it if I don't have all of the extra rework.

If your parts would fit in its working envelope (12"X 4.5" Y, 6"Z) then the Taig would probably be a better bet, especially for cutting metal.

In what material? It won't remove steel like a full-sized knee mill, but you shouldn't have to take forever at it either. What tool are you using, what DOC, feedrate and RPMs? What happens if you take a bigger bite at a time? On these little mills, you sometimes get better results with a small tool, going relatively fast, than a bigger one which can bog down.

The 6040's will do a good job on almost all material except for steel obviously, and are a very good value machine...EXCEPT for the crappy controller. For practical purposes you would need to factor in the cost of a controller such as G540, Lini, etc, or you could spend the rest of your life trying to get the TB6560 working.

    Cheers,

It's rumoured that everytime someone buys a TB6560 based board, an engineer cries!
