    Biesse rt480 - program too big !

Hi, I'm trying to solve a problem on a BIESSE
with CNI rt480 control. The internal ram is only
1MB and I need to load a cutting program that
    is 1.5MB of size.

The program can't fit into the internal memory.
The program can't fit into the floppy disk.

I have been told that it was possible to add
a 10MB hard disk with an expansion card...
The problem is getting a working expansion
card and an old compatible hard disk !

I have also been told that it was possible to add
more memory to the control. The problem is knowing
which kind of memory and how to place the banks
of memory, because they need to be placed in
    a specific order !

    Any help is appreciated.

The simplest thing to try, assuming you have already deleted all unnecessary programs, would be to modify your program to accomodate the memory size. With a file that large, I assume you have a CAD/CAM generated program, probably doing some 3D work. With that in mind, you can reduce the size of your program by first, eliminating one decimal place to the right of the zero. Yes, this will make the part "less accurate," but most of us realize that .0009 inches is nothing to sweat about. Secondly, increase the scallop. This will cause a poorer finish, but it's something you may have to do. Lastly, can you drip feed the program? Biggest drawback to drip feeding would be in a production setting; not being able to simply load the part and push go.

    Good luck!
