    PDA com cable question

Anyone out there use a PDA for program transfer? We have a Palm Zire 71 from Kennametal which works great 'cept the cable is on the way out. It's Palm Zire 16 pin one end and RS232 db25 at the other for CNC interface. Replacement from Kenna is both slow delivery and very expensive for just a cable. My question is, if I got a std Zire serial cable which is RS232 db9 and a db9-db25 adapter, would it work OK. Both of these are very easily available and also cheap enough to keep a shedload of spares and give easy option for extensions. Any thoughts folks?
    Thanks
