    Okuma osp7000L 4223 Alarm-d Motor not ready

Just wondered if anyone has had this fault before, 4223 ALARM-D Motor not ready to start 1.
I have checked all the drives, none appear to be in fault.

Any suggestions would be appreciated, the alarm appears any time i try to move any axis in any direction.

    Thank You

Sometimes get this when trying to move the drives right after servo on is given...it takes sevferal seconds for the motors to get ready after the power supply enables or resetting alarm level A. The code after the alarm is in "XY" format; assuming the "1" code after the alarm should be referring to the "Y" component of the code, then that would mean the 1st axis; the NC needs to see all motors/drives ready before it allows movement. What servo drives are in this machine? BLIID?

    Drive info

It has VAC III, VAC IV, BLIV, BLII INSTALLED, i dont believe it is due to the machine movement being initialised before the servos should be ready, as it has been sitting in the on position ready to start, all drives are all indicating ok state, ready to run, it seems as if the signal to the nc is not being recieved/sent to say it is ok to move.

    Thanks In advance

I don't know what machine this is (I assume OSP700/7000 control), but you could start by swapping the first axis drive with another one in the machine (for testing purposes only). If the code after the alarm changes (from a "1" to something else), then it would most likely be in that first drive (if you swap it with the second axis and the code changes to a "2", then that would indicate the drive). If it doesn't change, you could swap the drives back and then try the SVP board - swap command and feedback cables between channels 1 & 2 and see if that changes the code. It's a matter of finding out which unit isn't sending the "op ready" signal or if the SVP isn't receiving it. Of course, the code breakdown could be inaccurate (like that's never happened before) and it could be the first spindle drive (there woudl be another character after the "1", putting hte "1" in the "X" portion of the code "XY"), but I would start with the axis drives/SVP and go from there.

    1. There is parameter setting to ignore "Alarm-D"
    2. Reset/ restart and OSP starts to work normally

    Bloody hell Al
what sort of rectification advice is that....

It's like saying, "Keep driving your car when the oil light come on, you're not blowing smoke yet".

He would like to fix the fault, or at least diagnose the problem, and then decide if to continue working the machine, as long as there is no chance of making the problem worse ( in repair time & cost ).

-What does the error manual say for the "#1" at the end of the alarm line ?
this could point to the possible location fault
-Any info appearing on the Diagnosis page ?

"Motor not ready to start" could also mean that another component of the machine is failing ( ie hydraulics, levels, brakes, etc) not allowing the motors to be ready.

check the manual what is the alarm group D. Sure, you can dig for initial faults. You will find a lot of reasons, starting from old control solutions, old semiconductors and dry capacitors. What's the point? There is no reason to worry if alarm is easy resettable
