I use oxalic acid, otherwise known as wood bleach to remove rust. Mostly I"ve done this for chrome parts, but I have also done it on painted parts and it doesn't hurt the chrome or paint. Not sure about other coatings/finishes. Itis a powder that you mix with water and then drop the parts in. Leave them for 24-36 hours and the rust will be gone. Just a light brush with a soft plastic bristle brush. Probably 1 tablespoon to a quart of water should work. If you can't find wood bleach you can also use "super iron out".
Is this surface rust or is there pitting involved too?
If it's not too bad, wire brush (powered) them then soak in kerosene or similar and then buff with scotchbrite. Oil them good so this doesn't happen again.

Mostly surface rust but what if it has pittting?
Pitting will cause extra (excessive) wear on the tool retention hardware in the spindle. Would you rather buy a few new retention pull stud knobs, or rebuild the drawbar mechanism in your machine? Your choice.

If you have more than just a light rub/wipe with scotch-brite, replace them
